Lathes - facing twin spindle CNC lathes(9)

Facing twin-spindle lathes are special lathes for large series production. Lathes of this particular type often allow the machining of finished parts in a fully automatic manner, starting from the automatic loading of the workpiece by means of a gantry devices called up to the unloading of the finished part by means of lifting and unloading devices. These lathes are equipped with two spindles, therefore each spindle is served by at least one tool-holder turret, which may or may not be motorized. The spindles are positioned frontally with respect to the working area, for this morphological characteristic the facing twin-spindle lathes are suitable for the mass production of small and medium sized pieces normally not exceeding 30 kg in weight. The high degree of automation present in this type of machines also allows the reduced intervention and supervision by the operator on the machine. All facing twin-spindle lathes are equipped with numerical control. For further information please read this article published on our blog: "The mother of the machine tools: the lathe".
