Punching is a sheet metal working technique that uses machines called punching machines. With this technique it is possible to imprint marks on the sheet metal through the use of an instrument called “punch”. The punch makes pressure on the workpiece placed on a mould in order to obtain a hole with the desired shape. The punching machine, according to its power, can work sheet metal of different thicknesses. The greater its power, the greater the thickness that can be processed. The operation of the punching machine is very simple and intuitive. Initially, the sheet metal is placed on a mould and stopped by a gripper arm which has the dual task of clamping the sheet metal and at the same time positioning it correctly on the moulds to obtain the desired shapes. The punch placed in the upper part exerts vertical pressure on the sheet metal causing the cut. The vertical pressure of the punch against the sheet metal resting on a lower mould, allows to obtain precise shapes without burrs or deformities in a quick and economical way.
