Bending is a technique used during sheet metal working. On industrial level, this processing is carried out with specific machines called press brakes. Bending by means of press brake consists in making straight and parallel bends on small and medium-large pieces. Depending on the drive system, there are two types of press-bending machines, hydraulic press brakes machines and mechanical press brakes machines. In mechanical machines, the drive system consists of a connecting rod/crank system, while in hydraulic bending machines, the drive system is driven by hydraulic pistons. All press brakes consist of a piston mounted on the upper and mobile part of the press, a die and a sheet metal press piston. Modern press brakes are equipped with advanced cnc control systems that allow fully automatic machining. In cases of extreme production automation, press brakes are configured togheter with a robot that loads and unloads the pieces that need to be bent, minimizing the intervention of the human operator.
